Accra, Feb. 4, GNA - Central Aid, a nongovernmental organisation of Central Gospel Church on Wednesday presented a cheque of 25 million cedis to Princess Marie Louise Children's Hospital to support it in its health delivery and expansion programmes.

Presenting the cheque, Dr Kwabena Donkor, Chairman Central Aid Board of Trustees, said the gesture was to help the hospital to continue to develop quality maternal and child health services, training of public and community health service personnel.

He said it was hoped that the token donation would redress the constraints facing the hospital in the management of childhood diseases. Dr Donkor urged health personnel to stay in the country in the face of all the numerous challenges to discharge their professional duty.

Dr Dorcas Anfu, Medical Officer-In-Charge of the Hospital, who received the cheque, said there were plans to make the hospital a specialist one, offering integrated services in the management of childhood illness by the year 2010.

She said efforts were being made to expand the current recovery facility to create enough space for better emergency delivery and intensive care attendance. 04 Feb. 04
