Barima Kwame Asante Beyeani II, Chief of Atibie-Kwahu and Gyaasehene of Kwahu Traditional Area have slammed successive governments for failing to develop Kwahu.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, the Senior Auditor of Ghana Cocoa Board said Kwahu in the Eastern Region has lacked behind because politicians who won power failed to develop the area.

Ministers, MPs and other government appointees from the area only focus on their selfish desires at the detriment of the entire Kwahu Township, he decried.

He said selfishness, greed and personal gains are the traits of appointees who have been appointed by successive governments a situation he lamented, has delayed the development of the area. Barima Kwame Asante Beyeani II said they have educated men and women in the Township yet, they are underdeveloped.

He wondered why the Township cannot boost of a Government Hospital although they have 5 District Assemblies. In his view, instead of supporting and voting for the two major political parties namely; New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic (NDC), residents should rally behind an independent candidate to represent their interest.

"We have tried both the NDC and NPP but they have failed us and so I suggest that, Okwahuman rally behind an independent candidate who will represent our interest. If he lobby’ for development and government fails to listen, we will clad ourselves in red apparels and storm the Flagstaff House to agitate. We have the men and women who are competent, learned and apt for any position but the town has remain underdeveloped due to failed leadership,’’ he said.
