Ejisu (Ash), Feb 25, GNA- Miss Anima Wilson, a 46-year-old businesswoman was on Monday unanimously elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu-Juaben constituency at its delegates congress at Ejisu.
She was the sole contestant and secured all the votes of the 153 delegates at the poll conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC). Addressing the delegates after the election, Hajia Salamatu, the Deputy National Women's Organiser of the NDC, congratulated Miss Wilson on her election.
She, however, told her that she had a Herculean task which demanded hard work if the NDC was to win the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Hajia Salamatu therefore called for unity and co-operation from all party members to ensure victory for the party and asked them to also ensure that they get every party loyalist to register when the registration exercise starts.
Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, commended the delegates for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves and also congratulated Miss Wilson on her election. He added his voice to the call for hard work and dedicated service and pointed out that the task ahead was not easy and needed the co-operation and involvement of every party faithful to enable the party win the election.
Mr Charles Amoateng, the Ejisu-Juaben constituency secretary of the NDC, expressed serious concern about the financial situation of the party in the constituency.
He appealed to the regional executive to do their best to solve the problem.
The parliamentary candidate-elect expressed her appreciation to the delegates for the honour done her and assured them that she would do her best to wrestle power from the NPP.
