Akrofuom bank donates C15m towards Children's Centre

Akrofuom (Ash), Feb 26, GNA- The Akrofuom Area Rural Bank in the Adansi West District of Ashanti on Tuesday donated 15 million cedis towards the construction of the Akrofuom Community Children's Centre Project.

The project is the first to be started in the country since the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs mooted the idea as part of its national strategy of promoting child care and proper upbringing. Already, 10 million cedis out of the 15 million cedis has been released to the project.

Mr K. Appiah-Pinkrah, the chairman of the bank's interim management committee presented the amount and pledged the bank's commitment to the children's centre and assured them of additional support.

Mr Appiah-Pinkrah said it is the responsibility of the bank to identify itself with the development of its catchment area hence the bank's support for the project.

He announced that the bank has granted a loan of 20 million cedis to the Akrofuom Development Projects Committee for continuation work to start on the local market project.

Nana Annin Akwatia, Gyasehene of Akrofuom, who received the donation on behalf of the regent, commended the bank for the initiative and pledged Nananom's willingness to support the centre.
