Sunyani (B/A), March 1, GNA- The National House of Chiefs, acting in accordance with the approval of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, has accepted Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito I as Omanhene of Banda Traditional Area.

A statement attached to a certified true copy of an extract from the National Registry of Chiefs, signed by Mr. Nuamah, the Registrar stated that the research committee of the House decided on the registration and approval of Osabarima Sito "as the legitimate Omanhene of the Banda traditional area at a meeting of the House in Kumasi on February 18, 2004".

"Nana Sito has now become the legally accepted Omanhene of Banda Traditional Area now that his name has been entered into the National Register of Brong-Ahafo House of Chiefs", the statement said. Nana Sito was enstooled Omanhene of the area on November 23, 1997, to succeed the late Nana Kwadwo Worosa II.

Litigation with the rival royal family of Banda, however, had delayed his registration until the Supreme Court gave its verdict on May 16, 2001.

When GNA contacted Mr. Samuel Yeboah Minka, Assistant Registrar of the Regional House of Chiefs, he confirmed the decision by the House and explained that it was a follow up to the decision by the Supreme Court.
