Ejisu (Ash), March 6, GNA - Three students and a teacher were on Saturday honoured for their outstanding performances in last year's Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the independence anniversary parade at Ejisu.
Master Benjamin Okyere of the Ejisuman Secondary School who obtained aggregate seven in the SSSCE received 100,000, while Miss Mary Mensah of the Ejisu Ebenezer Methodist Junior Secondary School also received 100,000 cedis for scoring aggregate six in the BECE. Master Kofi Mensah of the Fumesua Primary School received 100,000 cedis for being the best pupil and Mrs Elizabeth Manu of Adadientem Junior Secondary School also had 100,000 cedis for being the best teacher in the district.
"The Director's Special Award," was instituted by the Ejisu-Juaben District Director of Education to motivate pupils and students in the district to learn hard.
Speaking at the parade, Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, Ejisu-Juaben District Chief Executive, advised students and pupils to learn very hard since they were the future leaders of the country.
He commended the teachers and police for their immense contribution towards education and peace in the district and asked them to continue with their good work.
Mr Akwasi Osei-Adjei, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu-Juaben, called for respect for the law and the tolerance of everybody's views since that was the basis of democratic governance.
He advised all eligible voters to register when the registration exercise begins to enable them to vote in the December poll.
