Ajumako (C/R) March 8, GNA - A Two-day workshop on "Ghana Decent-Work Pilot Programme" for entrepreneurs ended on Saturday at Ajumako with a call on them to use their expertise to help create jobs. Twenty-two participants comprising assembly members, contractors and engineers in the district attended the workshop, which was jointly organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly.
It was among other things designed to provide a catalyst to assist in the process of developing a strategy and implementation plan for bringing employment strategies to small-scale enterprises as well as to raise awareness of existing tools and approaches to create employment to reduce poverty.
Mr Kenneth Obempong, District Chief Executive, appealed to the participants to use the knowledge acquired to create employment in order to reduce poverty and pledged that the assembly was ever ready to give support to individuals and organisations wishing to invest in the District.
Mr Kwaku Osei-Bonsu, Senior Technical Specialist of ILO, urged them to show commitment in their work and endeavour to implement follow up actions to be agreed upon at the workshop.
He said decent work in the ILO means creation of gainful and productive employment, which could be associated with application of National Labour Standards.
The participants were taken through topics like bidding, tendering process for procurement of works, awards of contract and preparation of contract documents. 8 March 04
