Unity and hard work are the solution to economic recovery

Winneba (C/R), March 8, GNA- The Deputy Senior Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Right Rev. Dr. Godfred Zormelo has described unity, mutual understanding co-operation and hard work as the main solution to Ghana's economic woes.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Zormelo has therefore asked Ghanaians to cultivate these virtues and contribute their quota towards the effective and sustained transformation of the social and economic lives of the nation. Rt. Rev. Dr. Zormelo was addressing members of the Winneba branch of the AME Zion Church at a special thanksgiving service to commemorate Ghana's 47th Independence Anniversary, at Winneba on Monday.

He advised Ghanaians to resolve to shun all negative practices that impede both economic and social advancement of the nation and allow the spirit of honesty and God fearing lead us to salvage the ailing economy.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Zormelo cautioned politicians and all party functionaries to desist from acts, which could throw the nation into confusion and anarchy, and eventually destroy whatever gains the nation had chalked.

He said time has come for Ghanaians to seriously cultivate, nurture and maintain the spirit of honesty, truthfulness and effectively apply them in our national lives.

He said the country is 47 years now, so we must stop apportioning blames on our colonial masters and learn to work hard to achieve economic freedom at the age of 50 when the nation would be celebrating her Golden Jubilee.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Zormelo stressed the need for Christians to lead unblemished lives to attract God's blessings for the nation and the people.
