Agona Duakwa (C/R), March 15, GNA - Any elder at Agona Duakwa area who would take part in out of court settlement of rape and defilement cases would be handed over to the police together with the culprit for prosecution. The Chief of Agona Duakwa, Nana Kojo Amuakwa V, who disclosed this at a meeting with his elders on Saturday said this is part of efforts to discourage rape and defilement cases in the area. Nana Amuakwa said girls should be given the chance to live peacefully and therefore, anybody who assaulted them would never be covered.

The chief urged parents and guardians to give their children the needed education to enable them to become useful future leaders. Nana Amuakwa appealed to women to minimise their cloth purchasing habit and use the money to support their children's education, particularly the girl-child.

He warned the youth in the area against indiscriminate sex to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS disease, adding that figures being given by health officers about the disease are very alarming.
