Gomoa Ankamu (C/R), March 21, GNA - Mr Mohammed Mutawaki Kassim, National Reform Party parliamentary candidate for Gomoa West in the 2000 elections has appealed to his supporters to take the on-going voters registration exercise seriously.

Addressing his supporters at Gomoa Ankamu near Apam at the weekend, Mr Kassim commended them for their continued loyalty to the party. 'I am overwhelmed about the support you still have for me," he said.

He said he had received many calls urging him to contest the impending elections and said he would soon announce his decision. "I am studying the political landscape and will soon announce the party on whose ticket I would contest the election", he said. Mr Kassim said what was important now was the registration since that was the first step of winning any election.

On the future of the Reform Party, Mr Kassim said the leadership would soon announce which party to align itself with.

He urged the supporters to abstain from indulging in electoral malpractices such as multiple registration or registration of minors adding that such offences attract a fine of five million cedis or a term of imprisonment or to both.
