The Bolgatanga High Court Presided over by His Lordship Jacob Boom, has quashed the ruling of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs Judicial Committee that declared Raymond Alafia Abilba as the rightful owner of the Bolgatanga Skin on 26 October last year.

The ruling also saw the House of Chiefs Judicial Committee fined 16 thousand Ghana cedis for unlawful ruling.

It will be recalled that in May 2015, Raymond Alafia Abilba and Joseph Apakre were both enskinned by elders of Bolgatanga Traditional Council and the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Sheriga respectively.

This resulted into litigation as to who is the rightful owner of the Bolga skin.

The Bolgtanga township has been very peaceful after the ruling.

Speaking to Radio Ghana’s Samuel Ayammah, the Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dejoe, assured residents that the police and the military personnel will work together to sustain the peace the people in the Bolgatanga Municipality are currently enjoying and urged the public to be tolerant.

He warned that the Police will not countenance any act of violence in the municipality and the region at large under the guise of chieftaincy.

DCOP Dejoe said adequate security measures have been put in place to maintain law and order.

There has also been heavy security presence at both palaces.
