Akim Sekyere (E/R), May 8, GNA- The Chief of Akim Sekyere, Barima Afenhyia II has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to create a police post in the area.
He noted that, all the neighbouring towns have now got police stations and wondered why his town with bigger population should be denied.
Nana Afenhyia who made the appeal on Friday at Akim Sekyere in the East Akim District said illegal tree felling was rampant in the area and since there was no police post the community found it difficult to apprehend offenders.
He stressed the need for government to set up a security base in the town to check the illegal felling of trees.
