New Edubiase (Ash), June 10, GNA- Proprietors of Day Care Centres have been advised to register their centres in accordance with the law. Mr Anthony Amankwaah Affum, an Assistant Social Development Officer of the Department of Social Welfare, who gave the advice said the registration of the day care centres would enable the department to keep the day-to-day welfare records of children at the centres. Speaking at a workshop organised by the Adansi East district Social Welfare Department at New Edubiase on Wednesday, he said the department's records showed that most day care centres in the country were not registered with it.

"This attitude does not allow the department to keep the day-to-day welfare records of the kids in the various centres". He urged proprietors of the centres to improve upon the health and environmental conditions of their schools.

Mr Affum said the department had noticed that some people established the day care centres for only profits without taking into consideration the health needs of the kids.

Mr Isaac K. Paintsil, the District Social Welfare Officer, asked proprietors not to forget their parental duties, which go with the operations of the day care centres.

He asked them to provide special care and support especially for disabled children in their schools. 10 June 04
