The Koforidua SECTECH Old Students' Association wishes to express our heartfelt condolence to the family of late Dennis Acheampong whose passing was announced in the media though sadly occurred on Friday 8th December 2017 at the Koforidua Central hospital.

The association, upon reading from various news portals, quickly dashed to the school to ascertain the veracity of the stories making rounds.

We are saddened by the demise of our promising student Dennis Acheampong.

But we wish to state as the facts are pertaining to this sad news.

Our brother was found to be pale by his house master Mr. Osei and he responsibly called the boy's dad Mr. Seth Saforo about his observation concerning Dennis. Mr. Saforo, inquired of his son and Dennis said that he was so well and that he was busily preparing for terminal exams and he is poised to be on tops this time around.

Sadly on Thursday 7th December dawn he started complaining of bodily pains and headache so he was rushed Koforidua Central hospital. The father was called to come over and he did so due to the severity of his pain.

Painfully a father lost his son and we as association and school lost a Barima ba on Friday.

We wish to state that the fear and panic created in the media earlier has no bases per our interactions with stakeholders.

Again the hospital leadership have not disclosed the cause of death nor performed autopsy yet.

Due to the outbreak of H1N1 flu in some part of the nation, they have taken sample required for extra testing to be able to make pronouncement.

The health directorate of the region engaged the students on precautionary measures.

We want to use this medium to ask parents to remain calm and be assured all measures are being put in place for the safety of their wards.

The nation must disregard the earlier reports by Mr. Okoampa over the cause of death being meningitis, until the official report from the health directorate comes.

We are mourning the demise of our prospected student. We empathize with the family, school and loved ones as we mourn a Barima ba.

Thank you
