Cape Coast, July 5, GNA- Mr Emmanuel Nkansah, of the Controller and Accountant-General's Department (CAGD) in-charge of pension's payments, on Monday called on all government pensioners to fill forms provided for them.
He said the forms would help the department to purge the pension's pay register and get rid of ghost ones.
He said the exercise would also check those who collect double pension allowances every month.
Mr Nkansah was speaking in Cape Coast at a day's seminar for government pensioners in the Central region.
The seminar, which was organised by the Controller and Accountant-General's Department, was to discuss the recent 50 per cent increase on pension allowances and the processing of pension benefits. Mr Nkansah explained that those pensioners, whose allowances have not been adjusted, were those who did not fill the adjustment forms in May 2003.
He cautioned all pensioners to fill the forms, since those who would not be presumed to be dead, and their names would be deleted from the pensions' pay register.
Mr Willie Halm, a participant, urged the CAGD to be up and doing, since their attitude to matters concerning pensioners was a contributory factor to the mass exodus of the skilled youth from the country to seek greener pastures abroad.
Mr Michael Abbiw, regional chairman of the Ghana Pensioners' Association, who chaired the function advised the participants to take the seminar serious, as it was aimed at addressing their concerns.
