Government to upgrade clinics in Gomoa District

Gomoa Tarkwa (C/R), Aug 2, GNA- Government is determined to upgrade clinics to facilitate quality health delivery in the Gomoa District of the Central Region. Ms Joyce Aidoo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa said this in a speech read for her to climax the annual Akwambo Festival of the chiefs and people of Gomoa Tarkwa. He said government was committed to improving health facilities within the district.

Ms Aidoo said it was regrettable that some clinics in the district did not have adequate facilities to cater for the increasing population. She made it clear that government would not discriminate in sharing the national cake, and assured people in the area that everything possible was being done to improve their living standards. The DCE urged the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) because it was meant to assist the under privileged to have easy access to health services. She told the people that efforts were being made to reshape all feeder roads in the area to facilitate the movement of goods and services.

Ms Aidoo appealed to people in the district to vote massively for President J. A. Kufuor and Mr Joe Hackman, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the area. She, however, cautioned party activists to refrain from engaging in personal attacks on opponents.

Nana Mankata, a sub-chief of Gomoa Tarkwa appealed to government to upgrade the town's clinic, because it served more than 16 communities in and around the town. He advised supporters and members of political parties to desist from raining insults on their opponents as the general elections drew near. Nana Mankata called on citizens of the town resident abroad to form associations to enable them to come home and help initiate development projects for the area.

Mr Hackman, who is a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) asked the electorate to give him the mandate to enter Parliament and give the area a new vision.
