Osei-Kusi Foundation holds 'National Youth Volunteerism and Patriotism Conference'

As part of the efforts to rekindle the spirit of volunteerism and patriotism among Ghanaians, the Osei-Kusi Foundation (OKF) and its partners are set to hold a conference on the theme Accelerating development through volunteerism”.

In a press statement, The Osei-kusi foundation believes, volunteerism and patriotism are two attributes required for any nation to achieve accelerated national development.

It also states that Ghana has seen great volunteers and patriotic individuals like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, J. B. Danquah, Yaa Asantewaa and many others who went through many obstacles to make our nation great and strong.

However, there is every indication that the country is now in need of altruistic individuals who will give themselves off for the good Ghana’s development again.

The event will feature participants from the United Kingdom, Australia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, The Netherlands, and Ghana.

As part of the conference, three (3) student teams from three tertiary institutions will pitch their Volunteering projects to address a need they have identified within their communities.

The winning team will be presented with a grant of GH¢10,000 from the Osei-Kusi Foundation to implement their project.

The event will host a number of international speakers, including Mr Billy Williams (Former Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Australia), Ms Linda Boakye (Career & Mindset Coach, UK), Mr Juergen Pallien (Self-Made Millionaire & Philanthropist, Germany), Ms. Kim Green (Organizational Development Consultant, UK), Ms Ivana de Haan (International Fashion Designer & Philanthropist, Netherlands), Mr Wilson Agyeman (President of DIF Africa), and Dr.Joyce R. Aryee (Chairperson of the National Youth Volunteerism & Patriotism Award).

In attendance will be president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Education, Minister of Tourism, Heads of MMDAs, Vice-Chancellors of Tertiary Institutions, Heads of Civil Society Organizations, Diplomatic Corps, the media, students and the youth of Ghana.

4. National Award for Patriotism in Healthcare Delivery

5. National Award for Volunteerism in Rural Outreaches

6. Corporate Award for Patriotism

7. International Award for Youth Volunteerism – West Africa

8. International Award for Youth Volunteerism – East Africa

9. International Award for Volunteerism & Patriotism

10. Special Recognition Award for Patriotism
