Government has revealed that the construction of the Pokuase interchange and other local roads will take up to 24 calendar months [latest April 2020] to complete.
Senior Minister Yaw Osarfo Marfo on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 cut the sod on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for work to commence by Messrs Zhongmei Engineering Group Limited with Messrs Associated Consultants Limited (ACON)/ Bigen Group as the Consultant of the entire project under the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The project will cost $94million. Out of this, the AfDB will provide about $83million and the remaining $11.7m will come from the Government of Ghana.
With the backdrop of the strategic role the newly constructed Awoshie Pokuase and the proposed Pokuase – Ritz – Motorway Roads will be playing in terms of the transport sector goal to provide an integrated, viable and sustainable transport infrastructure to meet the goals of poverty reduction, regional integration and establishing Ghana as a transportation hub within the ECOWAS sub-region, it was envisaged that there will be the need to construct an interchange at ACP Junction at Pokuase.
