The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako Atta has directed the Chief Executive of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) and the Feeder Roads Department to expedite action on the Esiama-Nkroful-Teleku-Bokazo road in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

According to him the state of the road was unacceptable and a disrespect as it is known to be the hometown of first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He said the road was awarded on contract in 2015 but the project stalled leaving the road in a very deplorable state.

Mr. Amoako Atta was addressing the Chief, Elders and people of Nkroful in the Ellembelle District after an inspection of the Esiama-Nkroful road as part of a-two-day working tour in the Western Region.

The Minister was emotional about the deteriorating nature of the road adding that the road should have been completed by now, assuring that the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo-led administration would complete the road in the next few months to boost local tourism.

Mr. Amoako Atta also directed the Ghana Highways to asphalt Nkroful town roads to glorify Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

In another development, the Teleku-Bokazo-Aiyinasi road would be completed very soon as well as the Teleku-Bokazo-Simpa junction road will also be tackled in due course.

The Minister also inspected the Teleku-Bokazo-Simpa junction road and hinted of major construction works on that stretch in the coming months.

The Minister for Tourism, Madam Catherine Afeku said the poor state of the Esiama-Nkroful road did not befit the status of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as first President of Ghana.

She assured the people that the President would asphalt the road to glorify Dr. Nkrumah.

District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Mr. Kwasi Bonzo said the District had trained personnel to embark on a District-wide database to register all indigenes of the District to help ineffective planning of the area.

He thanked the Roads Minister and President Nana Akufo Addo for the initiative.

The Chief of Nkroful, Nana Kwasi Kutua V, said the road from Esiama to Nkroful was a disgrace to Ghana being the birth and original burial place of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Nana Kutua V appealed to government to build a District Hospital at Nkroful, the capital to cater for the health care needs of the people.
