Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwesi Ampofo Duku
Over 20 assembly members in Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi have threatened to stage a massive demonstration against the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwesi Ampofo Duku following insecurity in the region.
The region has recorded series of robbery and murder cases within this year.
A man in his early 30s was on Thursday December 6, 2018 gruesomely murdered at Santasi Zongo electoral area, a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis in the Ashanti Region.
Krobo-Odumasi electoral area has recorded two murder cases from November to December this year.
Some Electoral areas in Ashanti region have also recorded murder and robbery cases.
Assembly Member for Abrepo-Mpatasie Ohemeng Ian Moore speaking interview with Abusua Fm’s Osei Kwadwo called for the removal of the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwesi Mensah Duku following insecurity in the community.
Ohemeng Moore threatened one-man demonstration against the Regional Police Commander.
According to him, more than 20 assembly members have joined his move to demonstration against the regional police commander following insecurity in their electoral area.
Ohemeng Moore accused the police hierarchy of inflicting incompetence on the region.
“The regional police commander has failed as far as protection of life and properties are concerned. Some assembly members at KMA have reported the rise in robbery and murder cases in our electoral areas to the commander but nothing has been done about it. We are staging massive demonstration against him since he don’t want to address our concerns” he said.
