Adense (Ash), Jan 3, GNA - Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive, has asked traditional rulers to initiate development projects for their communities.
He said the period traditional rulers were made popular by wars they fought and captives, belonged to the past and what people expect now is development projects, which will enable them to improve on their living standards.
Alhaji Yeboah was inaugurating a 55-million-cedi borehole fitted with pump at Adense near Antoa in the Kwabre district on Sunday. The project was funded by the parishioners of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in the United States through the ingenuity of Reverend Father Samanhyia Boateng Mensah, a Catholic priest in US and Mr. Joseph Berkye-Mensah, both citizens of the town.
Alhaji Yeboah praised Mr. Berkye-Mensah for initiating the project and urged the people to support him to initiate more development projects for the town. He said the district assembly will also provide additional borehole to the community and stressed the need for them to take good care of the facility for it to last. Mr. Berkye-Mensah said the parishioners have promised to finance the electrification project the community has started through his efforts.
He said the town lacked many infrastructure facilities and appealed to the government to rehabilitate the one-kilometer road from the town to link the tarred road at Abira. Mr. Frank Aboagye-Bonnah, assembly member for Abira electoral area, called for unity in the community so that collectively; they could support the development of the town.
He commended the District Chief Executive for his personal concern towards the provision of infrastructure facilities for the town.
