Jomoro MP, Paul Essien with some key stakeholders in the society
The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Paul Essien has cut sod for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning (CHP) centre for the people of Amokwawsuazo and its environs to save lives.
This comes as a result of several appeals the community has made to successive governments.
The health facility when completed will help provide good healthcare delivery for about five communities thus, Old Ankasa, Fire, Frenchman, Paradise and others.
Speaking at the official sod cutting ceremony over the weekend, the MP, who is also the Deputy Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs revealed that the construction of the health facility was deemed necessary when he joined the good people of Amokwawsuazo to climax their annual festival in 2018 where the Chief of the made the appeal to him.
He added that it has become very important to build a health facility in the area so that the people will not have to go the Half Assini Government Hospital and Sowodzadem health facility to seek health care.
He said he is sure the project will soon be ready for use, adding that, government is doing all it can to make sure that development is brought to Amokwawsuazo and it environs.
He, therefore, charged the contractor to complete the project on schedule and urged the contractor to engage the youth within the area in the labour works.
He also used the occasion to appeal to the community folks to provide needed assistance to the contractor.
The MP also pleaded with the community folks to rally behind President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government to develop the Constituency.
The Queen mother of Amokwawsuazo and her people thanked the MP for fulfilling his pledge and assured him of the community's commitment to make sure that the project becomes a success.
In a related development, the MP for Jomoro also cut the sod for the construction Health Facility for the people of Tweako-Navorongo to provide quality health care.
As part of government's vision aimed at reducing maternal and neonatal deaths and providing citizens access to quality health facilities by the year 2030.
The Minister who doubles as the MP has finalized financial obligations and it is of the hope that, by 2020 the area health centre will be completed.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, the MP said building health facilities to make healthcare delivery more accessible in the country to achieve the universal health coverage is the utmost priority of the government and gave the assurance that government would continue to support the health sector to grow.
He said the project when completed would be equipped with modern facilities and services such as Out-patient clinic, Pharmacy, Delivery rooms, In-patient services General ward Medical, maternity, laundry, Stores and kitchen.
He indicated that, maintenance and technical services will be provided and housing units for resident doctors and nurses would also be constructed to ensure that health personnel posted to work would not have accommodation problems.
This, he believes will contribute immensely to the health care needs of the people in the Municipality.
On his part the Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Hon. Simon Amoah, expressed his profound gratitude to the government and the Member of parliament Paul Essien for the project.
He also thanked the Chiefs who were well represented from the areas for making the meeting possible “the people in the area will be happy and proud to have such an edifice”, he added.
The Chief of Navrongo-Twiakwo, Odikro Simon Ahiagbo commended President Akufo-Addo, Hon. Paul Essien (MP) and Hon. Simon Amoah (Chairman NPP) for this historic Health Centre.
He urged the contractor to keep to the job specifications and completion time and emphasized on the need for a comprehensive maintenance program for the facility to stand the test of time.
