The Chieftaincy dispute of Kwanyako resolved
A four-year chieftaincy dispute between Nana Ampim Darko V, Chief of Agona Kwanyako and five feuding sub-chiefs of Kwanyako that created division among kingmakers and the youth of the town have been resolved.
The five chiefs are Nana Asare Panyin II, Omankrado, Nana Adeiso Osu Pra II, Akwamuhene, Nana Okuta Opusu IV, Nifahene, Nana Atta Ofori IV. Abakomahene and Nana Aduoku Abora II, Tufuhene.
The Sub-chiefs had removed their stools from the Palace, indicating that they have withdrawn their allegiance to the Chief of Kwanyako to register their displeasure.
But as part of the settlement, rites including the slaughtering of six lambs to pacify the ancestress and gods were performed and the stools were returned to the Palace to signify total reconciliation between the feuding parties.
The amicable settlement of the dispute was followed by the signing of a resolution between the chiefs with Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, as principal witness to cement the peace initiated by Kwanyako For Peace (KFP)Committee.
Mr. Kofi Anokyi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of West Line Company, Chairman of KFP said the protracted dispute was retarding the development of the town hence the need to intervene to seek peace between the chiefs and their heads of families.
Mr. Anokye was happy that after contacting key personalities and groups they all agreed that the peace and development of the town must be considered paramount by all.
Speaking after the ceremony, Mr. Dennis Armah-Frempong, District Chief Executive, urged them to desist from any act that will undermine the peace of Agona Kwanyako and commended the KFP and all the parties involved for embracing peace.
Nana Ampim Darko said development was the responsibility of all and urged his people to unite and play their respective roles to ensure development.
The Omankrado who is the spokesperson of the five Sub-Chiefs appealed to all personalities involved in the chieftaincy matter to forgive each other and put the incident behind them for the town to progress.
He expressed gratitude to the Kwanyako for Peace Committee, Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, Security Chiefs, Youth Associations, and all others who made it possible to find lasting solution to the dispute.
