Many churches in the Cape Coast Metropolis on Sunday held church services to remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ after His crucifixion.
Most of the churches were filled to capacity with members clad in white for the occasion, signifying Christ's victory over death.
Other churches also climaxed their crusades and conventions with special healing services and thanksgiving.
At the ST. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Cape Coast, Rev. Amanamah Kobina Assuah, the District minister who spoke on 'Christ’s Victory Over Death' said the Christ’s victory over death brings about change.
Selected readings were from Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24, 1 Corinthians 15:19-26, Luke 1-12.
He noted that an empty tomb symbolized a new beginning in the life of every Christian and urged them to do away with the past negative behaviours that displeased God.
Rev Assuah said a ‘true witness to the victory today' was for Christians to let the activities and teachings of the passion week through to the resurrection of Christ reflect in their daily activities and duties.
He said as true witnesses to Christ's victory, it was imperative for all Christians to emulate the good examples of Christ, be honest, truthful loving and caring and proclaim the gospel of the Lord.
He said, just like the early Christians, today's Christians should be courageous and have the concern for the word and teachings of the church as well as bear true witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus.
Rev David Kojo Ahiadze, the Senior Pastor for ZOE OUTREACH EMBASSY, also noted that the resurrection of Christ gives Christians hope and empowers them to live righteous lives.
He urged all to endeavour to know Christ well by praying, reading the Bible and worshipping Him always in order to have a good relationship with Him.
He warned those who were living sinful lives to repent and give their lives to Christ or 'die an eternal death”.
Rev. Ahiadze therefore urged the leaders of churches and also the nation to address issues with a very high sense of maturity and discipline in order to leave a good example for the younger generation.
Right Reverend Victor Reginald Atta-Baffoe, the fourth Diocesan Bishop of the Christ Church Anglican Diocese urged Christians across the nation to endeavour to love one another as Christ did.
He urged them to let Christ’s victory reflect on their lives and make amends where they had fallen short.
