The Seventh-Day Adventist Church
The Ghana Adventist Heritage Fund has supported 22 Conferences/Missions in Ghana to renovate and paint Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Basic Schools in their areas.
The beneficiaries include; North Ghana Mission, Mid-North Ghana Conference, Ashanti Central Ghana Conference, Mountain View Ghana Conference among others. The Adventist Heritage Fund Financial Institution of S.D.A Church is based in Accra and is making the support as part of its 10th Anniversary Celebration in Ghana.
Pastor Godfred Kwesi Ataburo, President of North Ghana Mission of S.D.A Church announced this during the handing over of one of the beneficiary S.D.A Junior High Schools in Yendi by the North Ghana Mission to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school at Yendi in the Northern Region.
He said the Church renovated and painted six classroom blocks, two offices, Information Communication and Telecommunication (ICT), Laboratory, Staff Common Room and Two urinals for boys and girls at the cost of GHS 9,600.00.
Pastor Ataburo said the school benefited from the fund because of its excellent performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Yendi Municipality and commended the PTA for their cooperation with the teachers and support for the school.
He expressed his appreciation for the help the Yendi Municipal Assembly and the Yendi Ghana Education Service were giving to the school and warned the students not to write on the walls of the school blocks. Pastor Ataburo advised to study and pass exams and live respectful and responsible in future.
Pastor Osei Owusu, Regional Manager of SDA Schools in the North Regions, cautioned the Students not to think that with the free Education they could be admitted to the Senior High Schools without passing their BECE examination.
Pastor Owusu said they had a number of Basic SDA Schools in Tamale Metropolitan, Saboba and Yankazia in Saboba District, Buipe in Central Gonja District, Kpandai District among others.
The Church also has the Valley View University with one Senior High School in Tamale. He warned them not to involve themselves in taking hard drugs, Sakawa and smoking which could damage their future.
Mr Suuk Sammy, Circuit Supervisor of Yendi North appealed to the Church to support the school with text books to help promote teaching and learning in the school.
He called on parents to support their children with their needs and cooperate with the teachers as quality education did not rely on teachers alone. Mr Suuk commended the school for its discipline and urged them to keep it up.
Mr Osuman Issahaku, Headmaster of the school said the teachers of the school were committed to the teaching and learning as such students were performing well in their examinations. He said the renovation and painting of the school blocks was timely as it has come to save the school from serious challenges.
Alhaji Issahaku Fuseini, the PTA Chairman who handed the key of the renovated and painted facilities of the school to the Headmaster of the school commended the North Ghana Mission.
He said the PTA did a lot in consultation with other stakeholders to move the school up to this level. They prayed for the 105 final year students of the school; made up of 48 boys and 57girls for God to help them to pass their BECE examination.
The North Ghana Mission Pastors present at the handing over of the school blocks were; Pastor Appiah-Mensah, Project Director, North Ghana Mission, Elder Clement Puori Guri, Treasurer, North Ghana Mission, Elder Edward A.K Dawuni, Yendi Church and also School Management Committee (SMC) Chairman, 13 teachers of the school and Alhaji Abdulai Iddrisu PTA Treasurer of the school were also present.
