The abandoned completed Krobo Odumase Police Station
Cobwebs and dust have taken over Krobo Odumasi (K.O) completed Police Station in the Kumasi Metropolis after the facility has been left to rot since its completion in 2016, Pure FM's Osei Kwadwo [Ambassador] reports.
The structure which was constructed by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). in the Manhyia South constituency has been fast deteriorating since its abandonment three years on. Police personnel are yet to occupy the building.
The purpose of building the facility by the assembly is to combat crime in the Metropolis especially Central market, Dr. Mensah, Adum, Pampaso and host of others but this has not been fully actualized.
The area continues to record high rate of robbery and murder cases due to the absence of Police officers.
Residents and traders of the area have complained of the heightened insecurity in the area to Pure Morning Drive’s Security Campaign, and are appealing to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the City authorities to put the facility to use.
A trader who interacted with Osei Kwadwo explained that she always look over her shoulder anytime she comes to the area to trade.
“I come here from 4:30 to 5:00 am each day to trade. This place is hot, the government should come to our aid as Security in this area is really bad. Recently, they killed a boy here. Two people have been killed so far in this area and I learnt the killers haven’t been found yet. If you pass here at dawn, it’s very scary. This place is hot. Government should send Police personnel here and put this structure into use. I believe it will help solve the increasing criminal activities here.” She said.
The edifice is a fully furnished structure with CCTV cameras and other necessary equipment installed.
Pure FM has appealed to the Ghana Police Administration and the Kumasi City authorities to ensure that this fully furnished edifice is put to proper use.
