Wenchi (B/A) March 29, GNA - More than 20,000 people from the Wenchi New District have registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Mr Anthony Brako, the District Health Insurance Scheme Claims Manager, announced this during a seminar to educate members of the Wenchi Church of Pentecost about the NHIS.

He said identification cards were being processed for members for the start of the scheme by June this year.

Mr Brako said the NHIS would cover about 95 per cent of ailments except cases to be referred outside Ghana.

Cosmetic plastic surgeries, complications resulting from criminal abortion and HIV/AIDS are however exempted. Pastor Owoahene Nti Acheampong, Nsawkaw District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost advised the youth to guard against pre-marital sex in order not to contract HIV/AIDS.

The youth should also desist from drug abuse that had the tendency to destroy their potentials as future leaders.
