Kasena-Nankana West District office of NABCO made a donation to the Mother of Mercy Babies Home
The Kasena-Nankana West District office of the Nations Builders Corps (NABCO) has marked the one-year anniversary of the initiative with a donation to the Mother of Mercy Babies Home in Sirigu.
The office donated items including bags of rice, maize, crates of eggs and bags of sachet water to the Babies Home on Sunday.
Other items included in the donation were boxes of soap, bags of toilet rolls and some detergents.
Presenting the donation to the facility, the District Coordinator, Aputara Akasoba Jeremiah, said the office made the donation as part of district level activities to mark the one-year anniversary of the NABCO program which has since its inception created jobs for several graduates in the country.
He said the office haven noted the relationship in the impact both NABCO and the Babies Home is making in people’s lives and society, opted to visit the orphanage and touch the inmate with the gifts that would support in its operations.
He was hopeful the donation will give aid to the facility in providing for the children.
“NABCO is one-year-old now and as part of activities marking the anniversary, we have a lot of things we are doing at the district level. And as part of those activities, we have identified the Mother of Mercy Babies Home as one of the places to visit. So we have come here to visit the kids that are here and also to do some presentation of items to them”.
“NABCO is an initiative of President Akufo Addo and the current government it has for a year given jobs and served as a training platform for many university, polytechnic and graduates from other public educational institution”.
Sister Beatrice Tengzach, the assistant in-charge who stepped in to receive the items, thanked and extended the appreciation of Management, Staff and Children of the Home to the District Coordinator and Corps for making the donation.
She said their gesture is a great addition and would help the Home to provide for the children, majority of whom have lost their parents or immediate caregivers.
Quoting the scriptures, Sister Beatrice Tengzach urged people to appreciate, love and begin to take up parenting roles for children who have been abandoned or lost their biological parents.
She prayed and asked God to invoke His blessings on the donors.
She said: “on behalf of the Management, staff, children and the babies who cannot speak and on my own behalf, I stand here to welcome you. We are very grateful for the items. As you may know, these children are here because they have lost their parents or have been deserted and we have picked and brought them here. They don’t have biological parents so we are here to take care of them. We are parents to them. We are mothers and father to them and Everyone here too can be a mother or father to them. Once we take the place of their lost parents and give them love and care, God will also bless us abundantly. I pray that God will bless you and may the children also invoke their God to bless you for this wonderful visit and gifts”.
Meanwhile, NABCO at the Kasena-Nankana District level has announced it will undertake a tree planting project at some selected schools in the area.
The project will see to the planting of over 200 tree seedlings in the premises of the schools to enhance ground cover and encourage tree growth in the district.
This was made known in an interview the District Coordinator granted Journalists after the donation exercise at the Mother of Mercy Babies home in Sirigu.
The NABCO as part of the Week long anniversary commemoration activities has also held a stakeholder engagement forum on the Digital Property Address System for the Chiefs, community and Assembly members and all concerned groups in the District. A clean-up exercise within the district capital, Paga, was also organized.
Some tourist sites within the District were also visited by the Corps.
