School prefects asked to uproot indiscipline among colleagues

Takoradi, May 23, GNA- Mrs Aba Smith, Headmistress of the Bompeh Secondary Technical School, on Monday asked school prefects to assist school authorities to uproot indiscipline among students. Mrs Smith said indiscipline could affect academic performance of students, retards the development of schools and often led to the destruction of school property.

She made the call in Takoradi, during the induction of prefects of the school for the 2004/2005 academic year. Mrs Smith said: "Prefects are mediators between students, teachers, school managements and the public".

She urged the prefects to expose wrong doing among their colleagues, support what is good and uplift the name of the school through good leadership styles.

"You must strictly observe school rules and regulations at all times so that the general academic work would not be compromised," she added. Mr. Benjamin Wirekoh, Board Chairman of the school cautioned the students against the viewing of pornography on the Internet instead of using it to broaden their outlook. Master Pascal Addai, Outgoing school prefect said the schools impressive performances in athletics; soccer and inter-colleges sports festivals should be improved upon while higher educational laurels should be pursued.

Master Kinsley Arhinful, the current school prefect, thanked his predecessors for their contributions towards the growth of the school and pledged to continue to work in the interest of the school. He said the new leadership would use all possible means to encourage their colleagues to take their education seriously while engaging in other positive social activities on campus. 23 May 05
