Accra, May 31, GNA - The First Lady, Mrs Theresa Kufuor on Tuesday presented a set of groundnut-processing machines worth 60 million cedis to the Kwahu Pepease Presbyterian District Women's Fellowship. The presentation came after an appeal by the Fellowship to the Mother and Child Community Development Foundation (MCCDF) to help them to add value to their product.

The processing machine comprises one mechanical groundnut cracker separator, which comes with a three-horse power petrol engine, one grinding machine, two mechanical stirrer roasters and one groundnut paste kneader, which separates the oil from the paste.

The Lebanese Women's Association (LWA) upon a request donated the machines to the Foundation and the First Lady in turn handed them over to the Women's Fellowship.

Mrs Kufuor said she appreciated the efforts the women put in to crack the groundnuts with their bare hands adding, "today I'm happy that this dream to have a machine has come to fruition and you can crack over 100 bags a day without getting tired".

Mrs Haifa Laba, President of LWA, commended Mrs Kufuor for her contribution in assisting the less fortunate in society and strengthening non-governmental organisations, which are into women and children.

Mrs Juliana Osei-Banahene, who received the machine on behalf of the Presbyterian Women's Fellowship, commended the First Lady for the quick response to their request and appealed to her to assist the women of Pepease with potable water.
