Breman Asikuma (C/R) June 27, GNA - The Tuberculosis (TB) Monitoring and Control Unit in the Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa District has organized a day's forum at Breman Beedum to sensitised the people on the prevention and dangers of the disease.

A cross-section of people including chiefs, artisan's traders and school children from the area attended the forum.

The District TB Co-ordinator, Mr Paul Twum urged the people to report immediately to the hospital if they experienced long periods of cough, which he said could be a symptom of TB.

He reminded the public that the disease was curable and advised TB patients to take their medicines as stipulated and eat balanced diet, adding that the treatment of TB was free of charge. Mr Twum appealed to families of tuberculosis patients not to neglect them but to rather assist them to treat it.

Nana Kweku Essa IX, Odekro of the town, commended the Unit for organising the programme to educate the people on TB.
