Support ambulance service - Regional minister tells MMDCEs

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour has directed the Municipal District Chief Executives (MMDCES) in the Eastern Region to support the Ghana Ambulance Service with fuel and other basic logistics to facilitate the work of the service.

Mr Kwakye Darfour made this statement when he dispatched thirty-three ambulances to all the 33 constituencies in the region. The 33 ambulances are the Eastern Region's share of the 307 ambulances commissioned by the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to provide emergency health services to Ghanaian.

"It should be noted that One-Constituency-One Ambulance program is funded by Ministry of Special Development Initiative and forms part of budgetary allocation of one million US dollar per constituency," the minister stated.

The Regional chief pharmacist, Mr. Leslie Vanderpuije, speaking on behalf of the Regional Director Health Services, thanked the government for such intervention. He said as stakeholder in the the health delivery, ambulance plays a critical role in saving people's lives.

The Regional Manager of the Ghana Ambulance Service, Mr. Michael Ganni, on his part, also expressed his gratitude to government and the president in particular for the massive investment in the services. He assured that all the 274 staffs in the region will work hard to justify the investment made.

He also promised to take care of the facility to prolong its usability and ensure value for money.
