The Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region has recorded three Covid-19 cases, MCE Lawyer Owusu Addo has confirmed.
Two cases were recorded at the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw and one at the Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) proved positive.
The Kwahu West MCE expressed worry at the emergence of Covid-19 in the municipality.
“We have three at a go. That’s worrying, contract tracing is yet to begin, people have had contact with others, we pray we don’t receive more positive cases.”
He assured the situation was under control.
“The regional health directorate and Covid-19 team have been in the municipality since yesterday. The situation is under control. What is good is that it is not a death sentence.”
The MCE cautioned residents to believe the disease is real.
“Some thought it was some a joke. It is here with us now, wash your hands use sanitizer, use your face mask.”
He added: “From tomorrow, the security force would be in public places to enforce the use of masks, some of you who put the masks under your chin, and in pockets, feeling reluctant to wear it must stop.”
The Eastern Region’s total case count is now at 106.
The Region has 33 MMDAs with about eight MMDAs officially confirming cases.
