Gomoa Panfokrom (C/R), Jan 30, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor has presented a 29-inch Television Set to the Panfokrom Women's Training Institute to promote the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on Distance Learning.

Ms Joyce Aidoo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa, who made the presentation on behalf of the President urged the students to take advantage of the TV set to upgrade their English Language, Science and Mathematics studies.

She said the President donated 25 sets to the District to be distributed to the Secondary Schools but the Institute could not be left out as promised by President Kufuor.

Ms Aidoo stated that the time had come for women to "break the myth about politics and the holding of executive positions", adding that, "men cannot do everything with regards to the management of the socio-economic development of the nation".

The DCE asked the students to refrain acts, which could undermine their ambitions such as pre-marital sex and other social vices, adding that, "when you learn your vocation you would not become a burden on your future husbands, parents and society".

She commended the students for their excellent performance and urged them to keep it up and urged them to use their leisure time profitably to enable them to enjoy quality life in future.

Mrs Rebecca Ampah Korsah, Principal of the Institute, thanked President Kufuor for fulfilling a promise and said that the TV would be used for the purpose it was presented.

She appealed to the government to improve facilities at the Institute and to rehabilitate the Gomoa Postin-Awomerew road and said infrastructure needed a face-lift to befit the status of the Institute, which would be cerebrating its Golden Jubilee next year.
