Right Reverend Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum, Catholic Bishop of Koforidua, has called on Christians to build strong families to help hold the society together and care for each other.

He made the call at the commissioning of a Gh¢ 800.000 Parish Hall for the St. Bakhita Catholic Church at Koforidua.

The multi-purpose hall was started in 2010 and is expected to be used to generate revenue for the church.

Rev. Afrifa-Agyekum said Christians these days did not hold themselves together and as such the slightest challenge led to families breaking up.

He said most people these days spent most of their time on social media network, instead of reading and understanding the bible to draw them closer to God.

Rev. Afrifa-Agyekum advised Christians to desist from corruption, hatred for one another, lesbian and gay marriages and other social vices to build a future of hope for the country.

He advised the church to develop the maintenance culture to help keep the facility for a long time.

Dr Kwaku Acheampong, Municipal Chief Executive of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly, called on stakeholders in education to play their role to ensure quality education to the youth.

He said per the new Local Government Regulations, all houses without toilet would be mandated to build one within six months.

Dr Acheampong advised the public to get work permit from the assembly before embarking on any project in their communities to ensure proper planning and management of resources in the municipality.

He called on people to voluntarily pay taxes for the assemblies and government to raise revenue to develop the country.
