Christians urged to forgive one another as Christ did

Accra, April 10, GNA- The Reverend Dr. Peter Ohene Kyei, Rector of the Pentecost University College, on Friday said the world was currently going through terrible times both, economically, socially and spiritually because men had refused to forgive each other, be patient and obedient to God's word.

He cited the upsurge of wars in various countries, the economic crunch and demonic attacks on individuals as signs of the fruits of disobedience on the part of human beings and said it was for this reason why Jesus Christ died for humankind; therefore Easter marked an important occasion for sober reflection in the lives of all Christians.

Rev. Dr Kyei, who was delivering the Good Friday sermon at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), the Atomic Branch, which is a Ministry of the Church of Pentecost, also admonished Christians to desist from acts of pleasing and satisfying the desires of men, as Pontius Pilate did in the Bible during the trial of Jesus Christ. He said it was very common for most believers to resort to pleasing human beings rather than God so as to save a situation or to gain popularity, citing the instance of Pontius Pilate who, though found nothing criminal about Jesus Christ during his trail and should have released him, but being afraid of the crowd choose to satisfy their desire and demand.

He urged Christians to believe in and make good use of the death and resurrection power that Jesus released to all who believed in his death as atonement of sins and based on that be released from all their oppressions.

Rev. Dr Kyei said there was no other name or blood in heaven or on earth that could match the blood that Jesus Christ shared on the cross. He further prayed that, Ghana and her leadership would acknowledge the power of God and the power in the blood of Jesus Christ as the only power that was capable of atoning for the sins of her people and obey God through His Biblical instructions to ensure that the country regained its lost dignity to promote development. "It is not enough for believers to know about and celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but we must use this power to invoke good things in both our lives and in the lives of others. We must learn to forgive each other, pray for one another and believe in God's word," he said. 10 April, 09.
