God has revealed, let us also redeem

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRISIDING BISHOP OF ALL NATIONS INTERNATIONAL CHURCHES HIS GRACE BISHOP GEORGE OFORI-NYADU.

The senior Pastor of Cedar Mountain Chapel of the Assemblies of God Church, East Legon, Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengham, wants the Security Agencies to summon Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah before the National Security regarding prophesy he gave publicly about President John Dramani Mahama last week.

Rev Wengham believes such an action by the security agencies will deter some Prophets from prophesying falsehood about the lives of people in the country. I personally believe that, such action by the security agencies as suggested by Rev Wengham is against our rights as men and women of God in regards to freedom of speech. It is democratically and constitutionally inappropriate for the prophet to be arrested. We must also remember that, Prophet Owusu Bempah is also a citizen of Ghana and therefore he is entitled to his full social, religious and constitutional rights including freedom of speech.

It is also important to remember that regardless of Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah’s political affiliation, he is still one of the major prophets of our time who has raised very profound and seasonal men and women of God in Ghana as well as other nations of the world. His calling as a prophet of God cannot be denied or overemphasized. It is a scripturally proven fact that the ministry of prophets is relevant in our dispensation.

“He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love”

Ephesians 4:10-16

Please notice the phrase “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” The word “some” in this particular context means, the calling of God is very limited. All of us cannot be apostles or prophets. God in His own wisdom made it this way so that there can be a balance in the ministry.

Prophet Owusu Bempah the Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International on Friday stated in a radio interview that God revealed to him that President Mahama will die this year. The goodness is that he did not end there. He also said that, the impending calamity could be averted if the entire nation, and most especially the President, sought God’s help through prayers.

I do not think it is appropriate to say that, the prophecy is false and therefore do not come from God. Instead of the condemnations and the criticisms, let us rather seek God on behalf of the President of Ghana. I believe that, if we pray on behalf of the President God will answer us because He reveals to redeem. He has revealed it to the prophet in revelation; let us also redeem it humbly in prayer.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14

There is always the right way of doing things. I humbly plead to the powers that be, that in the future, provisions should be made for such revelations to reach the office of the president. The Prophet however bemoaned his inability to meet the President and inform him about the dark cloud hanging over his head and the necessary steps to be taken to avert the impending tragedy.

“I have not been able to meet the President and inform him. A similar thing happened when I prophesied about the late President Mills, but they turned me away,” he said.

I would also like to appeal to the prophets of our time to be guided by the word of God in regards to prophecy and also to use an appropriate channel to reach out to their audience. The things that we must always look out for about prophecy outlined by scriptures are as follows; exhortation, edification and comfort. Prophecies are meant for men not for angels.

“But everyone who prophesies speaks to men”

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort”

1 Corinthians 14:1-3

We pray for the president, we pray for the good people of Ghana, we declare that the president John Dramani Mahama will not die but he will live to serve the people of Ghana in every capacity according to the will of God.
