I thought we've come to the end of our discussion on tithing but some have wondered how the church could be financed if there is no tithing ? They seem to have missed the point about FREEWILL OFFERINGS, by which the Lord Jesus and the disciples were supported. We need to let the people know the truth of God's Word which shall set them free. John 8:32. When the people know the truth, then they can decide what to do with it, but we don't have to lie to them, to fabricate things which the Word of God does not say. While it takes money to support the church, we have no right or authority to put any burdens upon the Lord's people, to threaten them, to intimidate them or bring them under condemnation or guilt or curse them because of tithes. After all, the Lord Jesus died freely for all mankind but He did not demand any money from anyone before He went to the cross ! We should stop evoking Malachi 3:8-10 and other Scriptures to terrorize and bamboozle the Lord's people into giving, but teach them the truth and exhort them so they could support the Lord's work with cheerful hearts, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7.

Let us examine ourselves to see why we're in the ministry in the first place ? Has the Lord called you ? Did He call you to make yourself comfortable and live extravagantly while His sheep are so poor and wretched ? To squeeze money out of poor people to satisfy your selfish interest ? To build up business empires for yourself at the expense of the Lord's people ? In short, are you in the ministry to FLEECE the Lord's people instead of FEEDING them ? "....should not the shepherds feed the flocks ?.....I will both search My sheep and seek them out." Ezekiel 34:1-11. Did He call you to make yourself a lord over His people or to serve them and lead them to Him ? Leadership is not lordship, but being good examples to the flock of God which He bought with His own blood, feeding but not fleecing them ! Further, is your love and trust in the Lord or in the tithe ?

And for his work, the shepherd( pastor, prophet, apostle, whatever) must be supported by those he serves as undershepherd, the Lord Jesus Himself being the Chief Shepherd. 1 Peter 5:4. Faithful shepherds or ministers who labour for the Lord's work need to be supported, but you don't do it grudgingly and not as a burden, but lovingly as a child of God. 1 Corinthians 9:13-14.

Jesus was supported by some people including Susanna, Joanna, Mary and many others. Luke 8:2-3. The apostles were also supported by individuals and the churches. Acts 4:34-37; Philippians 4:15-16; Acts 11:29-30; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2. The Philippian church was exemplary in giving because they took particular care of Paul's needs, and so should every church, group or fellowship take good care of their leaders who serve them faithfully.

We cannot afford to neglect our leaders who the Lord chooses to labour alongside Him in His vineyard. If they minister to us in spiritual things, we're also to minister to them in carnal things and whatever we could afford, but as the Bible says, we need to do it in love and cheerfully. In giving, let us remember to give our best and not some leftovers, because God gave us His best, His only begotten Son ! Whatever the case may be, we should not give under any compulsion or threats whatsoever.

Even though proponents of tithing cannot prove their position from the Scriptures, many are still adamant in getting the tithe. Instead of repenting from the sin of teaching a false doctrine and robbing and stealing from God's people, they persist in their greed and love for money, and the prophet Isaiah has a timely word for them:

" Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, everyone for his gain, from his quarter." Isaiah 56:11.

But now you know the truth, so let the truth set you free, and don't be cajoled into tithing by anyone, be they prophets, apostles, bishops or archbishops. None of them can claim to be better than the apostle Paul, let alone the Lord Jesus Himself. Paul was a Pharisee who knew all the Mosaic laws, yet when it was necessary, he had to "rob other churches," to serve the Corinthians. 2 Cor 11:8. In other words, Paul had to accept support from other churches in order to serve the Corinthians. If the Lord, or Paul or any of the apostles did not collect tithes from anyone, but depended on voluntary support, why should you allow anyone to tell you to pay tithes ?

Modern-day tithing is a false doctrine brought into the church either by ignorance or greed, and has gone on for generations and we don't expect that this brainwashing would disappear overnight. This is just a small start and we're going to keep the tempo till all the greedy and false preachers repent or get out of the pulpits and stop taking the name of the Lord in vain. But watch out, they would come to you with lying words to try and rob you and steal your money:

" But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you....and through covetousness(greed), shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you......." 2 Peter 2:1-3.

Give cheerfully to the Lord's work, but don't be deceived any longer !

The scribes and Pharisees neither began nor ended their works in God, nor had they any respect unto his name in doing them. They did them to be seen of men, and they had their reward - human applause.

These ought ye to have done, etc. - Our Lord did not object to their paying tithe even of common pot-herbs - this did not affect the spirit of religion; but while they did this and such like, to the utter neglect of justice, mercy, and faith, they showed that they had no religion, and knew nothing of its nature.

Does the Bible say the tithe was to be nailed to the cross? No. Nowhere in the Bible do we learn of the abrogation of the tithes in the NT.

It took the early itinerant apostolic missionaries many years after the death of Christ to establish churches in Asia and Europe. Some of the early converts were Jews (who were familiar with the tithing system), and some too, were Gentiles who (were not familiar with the tithing system).
But hey all shared everything in common, more than what was required by the tithing system.

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common" (Acts 4:32).

JESUS WAS ADDRESSING THE PHARISEES WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW. THEY PAID TITHES AND THEY SACRIFICED ANIMALS. JESUS DID NOT ASK THEM NOT TO SACRIFCE ANIMALS TO GOD BECAUSE CHRIST WAS HAD NOT SHED HIS BLOOD YET. JUST BCOS JESUS DID NOT ASK THE PHARISEES NOT TO SACRIFICE ANIMALS DOES NOT MEAN WE HAVE TO DO IT TODAY. THE PHARISEES FOLLOWED ALL THE 613 MOSAIC LAWS TO THE LETTER. SHOULD WE FOLLOW THESE LAWS TOO? 2. I have seen from the picture attached to this article that somebody is holding the Bible and not the New Testament. If it is the Bible, then why are you not obeying and believing what is in MALACHI Chap 3 vs 7 -10?

Now,if these churches and Pastors are robbibg God's people, what is your problem?

Even a short glance at your article indicates that new testament is the Bible but the Bible is made up of both old and only new testament.
I want to say that if you're cautioning false pastors, prophets, etc who are using the name of our Lord Jesus Christ by using churches to steal that's fine. However, if you indicate Tithing is means of stealing from poor people then I'm afraid to say that you need to come back after doing a thorough research. At this time I disagree with you. Thanks

Let me begin by saying that you have asked a very important and necessary question. The Bible clearly teaches that the disciples of Jesus including the 12 apostles were commanded by Jesus Himself to keep the laws of Moses (Matthew 23:1-3). Contrary to popular belief, the 12 apostles NEVER stop keeping the law. We read in Acts 21:21 that, led by James, the 12 apostles angrily confronted Paul because it had come to their attention that Paul was teaching Jews who lived among the Gentiles to stop following the custom of Moses. According to theologians this incident took place 30 years after the cross and Pentecost. This brings us to another crucial point, which is this: The 12 apostles - contrary to popular opinion - were NOT Christians! They COULD NOT have been! Romans 3:21 defines Christianity as "the righteousness of God WITHOUT the law". This simply means one can claim to be a Christian while he/she zealously keeps the law - as the 12 apostles of Christ did. So the question we need to ask ourselves is, if the 12 apostles, 30 years after the cross and Pentecost were still keeping the law when did they start being Christians? According to theologians James wrote his epistle in A.D 64. And even at that late date, he showed that the law - still - was the divine principle that supremely governed their lives - and NOT "Grace" as we know it! Notice what he (James) wrote: "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all" (Jas. 2:10). It is worth noticing that it was Paul - and NOT members of the 12 apostles body - who said "Ye are not under the law, but under grace" (Rom. 6:14). As I pointed before, the 12 apostles - per the Matthew 23:1-4 command of Jesus were required to keep the law. To them (i.e., the 12 apostles), that policy was NEVER rescinded. Notice again, that, Peter in the house of Cornelius said, "It is an UNLAWFUL thing for a man that is a Jew to come to one of another nation" (Acts. 10:28). This incident also took place several years (about 8 years) after Pentecost. This shows that, the 12 apostles of Christ consistently kept the law. Considering Jesus' command to the apostles (Matt. 23:1-3) and James' statement (Jas. 2:10), the 12 apostles of Christ could not have been said to have kept the law have they not tithed - or been tithed to. If they were practicing tithing - which they were - they were KEEPING THE LAW. And if they were keeping the law, they Could NOT have been Christians. Paul said, in order to win Christ (i.e., become a Christian), he had to count his righteousness in LAW as dung. (Philippians 3:8). I am available for more discussion. JESUS CHRIST came to fulfil the law but not to destroy it therefore there is no sharp distinction between an old testament believer and a new testament believer. if JESUS CHRIST had destroyed the old testament law and established new ones in the new testament i would have agreed with u but thats not the case (mat 5v17-48). Tithes is in the new testament as well as in the old testament (mat 23v23)& (heb 7v8). JESUS CHRIST mentioned tithe there so bro if u r ignorant about the scriptures, take ur time and read for the HOLY SPIRIT to give u understanding but dont put false doctrines out on the internet. i am a living testimony of the blessings one receive from God thru tithes. as i speak with u now i pay 12% instead of 10% because i want more of the blessings and remember no pastor has forced me to do that. am doing that due to my understanding of the scriptures. so please stop preaching falsehood.

Take a very close look at the modern churches: Full of false pastors. Their aim is to get rich, drive big cars and build mansions. The churches are full of false prophets, prophesying prosperity which never comes true even if one stays in the same church for 120 years.

Not even 0.0000001% of the tithes being paid to such churches are done according to the will of God. That is a fact!
But there is something when you do you will never go wrong. Take a look at the scriptures:

Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

So if you help the poor, the needy, the sick etc. you are giving to God. That is your tithe to God. You will never go wrong in giving to the needy!

Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

When you quote Malachi 3-8 and proclaim that you re robbing from God and God will punish you. You are indirectly saying that a person that go to the bank with a gun to rob and shout that if you do not give me money I will shoot you is not a crime.
All these mega pastors and prophets come in sheet clothes but with the heart of wolf and society must be ware. Good job Amartey, my church would be called a free will giving church. And tithe will not be imposed on any member. How about the widows might, I strongly believe in that giving than being forced to pay against my will.

Are they establishing these churches just to win souls?

May-be not!

If all churches were one church what a great church the world would be!

In the Book of Revelations, there were churches like; The church of Rome, the church of Thessalonica e.t.c.

Churches were one. In Towns and Cities, but nowadays, these are not so. There are many mushroom churches with the bank accounts in the name of the pastors, and people begin to fight over church monies.

These are some of the reason why some people are questioning the essence of paying tithes and not the admonitions themselves.

Why are these so?

It is the 'love of money which is the root of all evils'!

The one-man churches!

God chose one of the tribes of Israel to be pastors.

This tribe was not to do any work and that was one of the reasons why God asked the believers to pay tithes, to bring money and food to the church to feed these pastors.

Why is this subject bothering many believers of today? There seems to be an 'uprising' or 'revolution' about tithes payment today which I believe has come because God said in the last days He will shake both the heavens and the earth, representing His own kingdom that's the church and the unbelieving world. Why shake the church? Because the ungodly teachings and practices must fall down for only the godly ones to stand.
Tithe is one subject many believers are awakening into today, is it being shaken?

In fact, a bit of theology would highlight that the Word of God in the bible is carried as a conduit by human history. As I do not want to bombard anyone with theological terminologies, I should say we have two aspects; the HISTORY of the word and the SPIRIT of the word. But then, the whole bible is about Jesus both OT and NT.

Now my question is, truely speaking, can we obey and practice everything in the Bible on this earth? No! Even Adam in his sinless state could not obey just one single instruction about the forbbiden fruit. Honestly, following all in the bible may mean we must reverse the time, go to Jerusalem, etc and do exactly what happened, are these possible today? That's why we need to follow the spirit of the word and do away with the history when by the grace of God we commit ourselves to obey the Holy Spirit.

Now, Jesus came to confirm the word by firstly dying for us and secondly teaching us how to live a new life not in any other but in Him. Mind you Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and life, no one can go to the father except through me.

My simple answer to all questions about TITHE is, all believers must go by what Jesus actually 'teach' and 'do' regarding tithing. Did Jesus himself teach or pay tithes? Please I'm not talking about offering. Where, to whom, for what, how was it paid, when, etc. did Jesus said or paid tithes himself?

Now, we can know some of these from the early church particularly from the book of Acts where Peter, James, and co who were themselves witness to what Jesus taught and did about tithe. What did the later believers like Paul say and do about tithe? Did they pay any and taught others to follow what they were actually doing by themselves? I believe in Hebrews chapter 7 that Paul talks about tithe, what's is the revelation behind what he said and also, did Paul pay any tithes himself? Because he couldn't say or teach others what he Paul himself did not do.

In Malachi 3:8+, people should understand that robbing God is not just a matter of paying tithes but keeping the tithes for God's house to be full. From 'BC LEVITICUS' time, WHEN will the TITHE KEEPERS in God's house know that its FULL? How much of God's monies are spent on the poor and widows, the reasons for collection? Why are some churches not transparent enough to publish the tithes and offerings even to their own members?

The OT & NT are put together in JESUS who said Love God with your whole mind, body and soul, and love your neighbour as yourself. With these there no other law, not even tithe payment can take you to heaven. I know someone would say loving God is paying tithe, but to who, Pastor? I know Melchizedek received tithe, but did Jesus who came after Melchizedek's order paid any tithe or taught to pay any?

I think church leaders today MUST emphasis on the kingdom of God and its righteousness. That is winning souls, teaching won out souls to live transformed life like Jesus, and finally, charging them to go out preach and help others to be transformed. God's blessing is much more a spiritual thing than we hear of material cars, buildings, etc. preached to us today. This is purely the holy spirit's job working through us that's why Jesus said we should 'ALLOW' the Holy Spirit to come UPON us to lead us, rather than He living in us and we controlled by our flesh. If the Holy Spirit do not come UPON us we will have no power to even know whether to pay TITHE or not.

Every question about tithing would be answered in the booklet and the tithing proponents would be silenced forever and won't be able to ROB AND STEAL from the Lord's people again with their manipulation, deceit and lies.

You have to remeber that they have far more money to fight you. They are also going to publish books. They are going to use the airwaves and the media to fight you. Because you are reaching into their pocket.

However, good always triumphs over evil. The sword of Christ will slay the dragon of greed, manipulation and deceit. No one can be against you if Jesus is with you. Many millions are with you. This is big, this might be your destiny.
