But even if it did let us compare to the claims by the religious. Where did god come from? He came from nothing? Are they not the ones saying something cannot come from nothing? So god created himself. Then he sat around in the darkness for how many years before he decided to create light. Then he created the earth over 4 days, and then he created the rest of the universe in one day. Am I the only one seeing the absurdity of these claims?

When we call them out Christians then say you cannot understand god with human mind and logic. Really. So they the Christians understand god? How did they do that? Are they not the ones who just said human mind and logic cannot be used to understand god. Am I the only one seeing this nonsense from the Christians.

I always like to point to out to Ghanaian Christians that if european slave traders and colonialists had not come to our land we would never hear of Jesus. If rather Ghanaians had colonized Europe, Komfo Anokye would be known to all Europeans by now.

I strongly suggest people study the scientific literature before making such infantile pronouncements.

And even if we did not know how love comes about, inserting that a certain god is responsible makes no sense. because if you live in China you would say the Chinese god did it. If you live in India you will say the Hindu gods are responsible. If you live in Ghana where the people are massively ignorant and living with colonialized mentality they will say the white man god did it.

And once you select which god you want to credit for this you now have to prove that god exists and demonstrate how that god is responsible for the things you are claiming. So far NOBODY nowhere, not even the pope has presented any evidence for the existence of any gods anywhere. That is why followers are asked to use faith. If this was any other sector of our lives we would call it fraud.

The educated ones who are supposed to educate others are even the worse culprits. Instead of basing our arguments on evidence we rather use the understanding of people who never knew any science because it is captured in a book. If all the knowledge and truth are in the bible and other religious books then why do we go to school to study medicine, pharmacy, engineering etc. Why not just study the bible to become say a doctor because all the knowledge needed are in the bible.

I think the problem of religious people like myself a Christian is that, religiosity do not dispute the argument for science proving where we may be from or who we are because every person who is physically present and alive on earth would lack 'thinking sense' to push science to the fools. It is rather to do with many of us after becoming religious by default, we are stuck in defending what some people say must be the 'way' whereas we ourselves having no personal reasons independent of what they tell us in the religious books.

My reasons for saying default is, although we appreciate that the values and principles set out in the 'holy books' can surely be lived without those books, we still think that 'holiness' lifestyle values and principles relived according to Adam, Eve, Abraham, David, Paul, Peter, etc. who has supernatural 'authority' in holiness without our minds must be followed.

Greater percentage of people in Africa are religious, yet they are not 'liberated' by religion whereas those who do much more believe in science are somehow liberated. Why elements of 'real' evil, poverty, etc do worse in religious environment than scientific areas?

Of course, I believe in God, but I just wanted to state the scientific facts. All truth is God's truth and we don't have to be scared of it. But, just because someone has PhD after their name doesn't make them an expert in all areas including those they haven't studied. Ever heard scientists fit the facts to their personal "non-religious" philosophy? Or scientists from different disciplines argue with each other? Nothing purer or safer in worshipping science, although, yes, it can be a useful tool within its proper limits.

what would you say about ectopic pregnancy??? yes its life but one that can kill the mother and has no chance to survive!! what do you do? taking it out is also abortion!!
and dont forget that sperm and egg can unite to give an abnormal baby eg with no brain (microcephali) would you let it live or abort? if yes i hope you experience the care for such children then you will understand why they must be aborted....they bocome a strain on you your resources,govt resources etc.

At age sixteen, I saw a headless person who gave me instructions in my dream to obey after which i will see some results.So many revelations followed, i tell people what i see about them in a dream and it becomes their testimony. About twenty years later, i saw this headless giant in my dream. This time,He told me to tell my story to people, it is about me being raised from death to life.A few months after this dream i traveled to Nigeria. to make a long story short, a spiritualist who had wanted to kill me ,could only bless me instead. this was because i faced him with a (prayer) mantra recitations. i am not a pastor or spiritualist. In my youthful days,people made prophesies about me which all came true.There is a lot more miraculous encounters but i cant write everything here.i believe that it is God who appeared to me in my dreams but how can i present this as evidence to someone who want to see it black or white. You only have to believe me or move on.These experiences cannot be evaluated scientifically.Even if it wasn't God who appeared to me in my dreams, the nature of my dreams and consequently manifesting into living testimony, tells me that there is something 'existing' but which is beyond reach of scientific scrutiny. can i deny my life experiences simply on the basis that you have not experienced same?

A prophet in the OT blew his horn and dead people (skeletons) rose up from their graves to fight for the Jews.

When I narrated these stories from both religions in the '90s in an argument with a group of students, the African Muslims claimed I was making up the story to ridicule Mohammed. Luckily, there was a Palestinian student amongst us and confirmed what I said as correct.

The African Christians also denied that such a thing was in the OT. Luckily, one guy who was just a refugee with no university education said he also read that in the Bible before, and so all had to shut up in shame!

A Gambian Muslim later told me privately: "these people just came to fool us". He laughed so hard at the skeleton story. The Christians also laughed at the flying horse story. He was no graduate but I developed more respect for him than the Christian graduates cos they were not ready to admit that something was amiss with their religion. Yes, just like I respected more the Moroccan student refugee in my methodology class who supported the Fundamentalists but opted for scientific knowledge rather than the ecclesiastical derived knowledge.The Black Africans opted for the latter. After the class, I asked the Moroccan why he chose scientific knowledge and his response was an eye opener to the minds of those Muslims using religion for their political agenda. To him, as he gained more confidence talking to me, he couldn't even understand why black Africans embraced Islam, after all that enslavement. He told me about some blacks of Sudanese slave origins who worked as spies for their King and were most hated by Moroccans. A couple of years later, after discussions with Jehovah Witnesses on religion and slavery, they brought me a copy of one of their old tracts. Lo! and behold! There was the story of how the first of those Sudanese slaves were given as gifts to the Caliph of Morocco in the C9th! I still have it!

Jesus did not read or write either. The new testament was written in Greek. None of Jesus or his followers were literate in greek. Christianity just like Islam are made up anansesem. Grow up, no god exists anywhere

What we have to understand from the above Hadiths is that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was rather aiming for more Glorification and Praising of Allah Almighty. Since every created thing that GOD Almighty created recognizes the Creator, Allah, and worships Him, then the sun too prostrates to GOD Almighty in its own way and worships Him. This is clearly mentioned in the following Noble Verses:

"Seest thou not that to God bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as God shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for God carries out all that He wills. (The Noble Quran, 22:18)"

Scientists update their knowledge in the light of new technology and better tools to study nature and invent things. Scientists never claim they have all the answers, their purpose is to find more answers. Religion however claims it knows everything, like the world being flat or humans created by a deity. if something is claimed to have happened millions or billions of years ago we can test it and assess the evidence for the claims. That is how we know of dinosaurs, big bang, galaxies, evolution, dna, and the list goes on. No faith is needed, just like no faith is needed for gravity. The consistency in which truth presents itself may be testable and may have supportive data as evidence, but the relationship between the evidence and our understanding can be as far as the east is from the west.
So truth and understanding do not, necessarily, belong to the same subset. Our fallen human nature is the culprit. We have a bias which imperceptibly influences everything we think and do. Our understanding and the evidence do not team play; we even tamper with the evidence to create a desired outcome consistent with our hypotheses, or belief systems we hold so dear. Such are the cases of many researches, and the case of the "science" of evolution which requires more faith because of its inconsistencies (contradictions) in analogies and evidencies.

In Jeremiah 17:9 we learn that "The heart (mind) is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

In John 14:6, truth is defined as a person: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

"... no lie is of the truth" (1John 2:21b).

Truth must be consistent. Note a contrast:

For instance, Genesis 1 and 2 disagree about the order in which things are created, and how satisfied God is about the results of his labors. The flood story is really two interwoven stories that contradict each other on how many of each kind of animal are to be brought into the Ark--is it one pair each or seven pairs each of the "clean" ones? The Gospel of John disagrees with the other three Gospels on the activities of Jesus Christ (how long had he stayed in Jerusalem--a couple of days or a whole year?) and all four Gospels contradict each other on the details of Jesus Christ's last moments and resurrection. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contradict each other on the genealogy of Jesus Christ's father; though both agree that Joseph was not his real father. Repetitions and contradictions are understandable for a hodgepodge collection of documents, but not for some carefully constructed treatise, reflecting a well-thought-out plan.

In this case, your so-called facts that lead you to conclude that the Bible is riddled with contradictions is not necessarily true. For, instance, there is little to no contradiction between Genesis 1 and 2 as you claim. And here's why: Genesis 1 is a complete record of creation while Genesis 2 is a snapshot of creation on day 6. In other words, in Genesis 2, the author zooms in to pick up the narrative from day 6 which is about how God created man and woman. Also, your claim that the flood story is really two welded accounts is inaccurate. The so-called contradiction between Genesis 6 and 7 disappears when you consider that only a pair of unclean animals and seven pairs of "clean" animals were to be carried into the ark. Thirdly, your claim that John's gospel differs significantly from the other gospels is also bogus. If you read up to the last chapter of John which is John 18, John points out explicitly that not everything done by Jesus was recorded in his record. In other words, he only highlighted or pointed out matters in Jesus' life which he believed served as strong evidence for Jesus' deity. This does not mean the other events in Jesus' life did not matter. It simply meant that John did not see the need to rewrite them since they had already been written in other accounts. Now, your claim that Matthew and Luke's account contradicts each other in relation to who Jesus' father was is also bogus. Matthew's genealogy is actually according to Jewish law which traces genealogy through the patriarchal line, while Luke's is the proper record as Jesus did not have an earthly father. This difference is understandable because Matthew wrote his account to the Jews who were his audience, while Luke wrote to a gentile audience. Lastly, your claim that the record around Jesus' last days and resurrection are contradictory also don't match the facts. Martha and Mary were the first to go to the tomb on resurrection day, followed by Peter and John. Again, this apparent contradiction disappears when you ask yourself whether the various narratives were presented in strict chronological order or not and what the subject/purposes of the various authors were and who their audiences were. Day 7: Nothing (the Gods took the first day off anyone ever did)

Note that there are "days," "evenings," and "mornings" before the Sun was created. Here, the Deity is referred to as "Elohim," which is a plural, thus the literal translation, "the Gods." In this tale, the Gods seem satisfied with what they have done, saying after each step that "it was good."

The second one (Genesis 2), the Yahwist tradition, goes:

Earth and heavens (misty)
Adam, the first man (on a desolate Earth)
Plants
Animals
Eve, the first woman (from Adam's rib)

Again, like I said, Genesis 1 is presented as a general, comprehensive creation while Genesis 2 is presented as a snap shot of day 6, which more or less is a localized creation, perhaps one that took place in the Mesopotamian region historically believed to be the cradle of civilization. Of course, God's creation in Genesis 1 doesn't necessarily mean every part of the earth or the ocean was populated by life be them animals or plants. You would only take Genesis 2 as a contradiction of Genesis 1 if you misread Genesis 1 to mean that every land and ocean was populated by life. Taking that into account then, the supposed contradiction of the localized creation of Genesis 2, which is primarily focused on the creation of man and the Garden of Eden in a specific area, disappears.

Now, your claim that word "Elohim" translates as "the Gods" is not accurate. While the word itself is in the plural form it is in the plural not because there were many "Gods" in attendance at creation, but because God is a trinity, three yet one, one yet three--a truth propounded in the Gospels.

Moving on to your next claim: how can there be day and night on Day 1 when the sun, moon and stars were created on day 4? Again, this seeming impossibility disappears if you consider the fact that there are many types of light, not just visible light from the sun. Gamma rays, X-rays, ultraviolet light, microwaves and radio waves are all examples of light, and these various lights bathe space than visible light. The mistake we often make is to think that visible light is the only type of light there is--and that is wrong.

Lastly, do Acts 9:7 and Acts 22:9 contradict each other? Not really. The Greek word used is “akouo” which can translate to mean to hear or to understand depending on context, and hearing and understanding are two different things. For example, you can hear but not understand. And that's what Paul meant in Acts 22:9. While the people with him heard the sound or voice, they did not understand what they heard. The supposed error in those two passages lie in translation not in facts!

Muslims will never forgive atheists/anyone who criticize Islam without engaging in equalization by racking in christianity in their criticisms. Therefore for fear of being physically attacked you decided to calm them down by neutralizing their anger by adding the Christian faith.
But you see, Islam is our common enemy. The believers of that faith believe only muslims deserve to live. They have attacked and destroyed every belief in the East and are doing the same in the West with atheists like you. But the one thing you must remember is that after eliminating all faiths they will turn the heat on the useful the useful idiots(the atheists) who currently are their right hand men in their fight against Christianity in the West.

For you, seeing is believing doesn't even count, if it contradicts what your God or Allah purportedly says. That's why when the Catholic Church eventually admitted in 1986 or so that Galileo was right, they also found some way to assert that they were also still right in opposing his discovery that the earth is spherical and it revolves around the sun, rather than being flat and the sun revolving it, as maintained by the Church. Scholars have pointed out that not only bishops and clerics were arraigned against Galileo in his disputation with the Vatican, but some of the foremost scholars within the Roman Catholic hierarchy, your equivalent of today's believing scientists you claimed are converting to Islam! Tweah! and Bah! combined to all of them.

Yes, the types that looked into Galileo's telescope, saw the moon and stars at close ranger but didn't believe what they saw were real. They accused Galileo of inventing a special method of painting those images within the glass in his telescope to fool people and wanted to subject him to the Inquisition to reveal his secrets if he didn't recant! Galileo didn't want to go on the rack and recanted, even though he knew his to be the truth, but today, you primitive minded believers whose minds and world view (cosmogony and cosmology) is steeped in the Weberian primitive substantive rationalisation process won't get us sane rationally thinking Doubters to recant! Nei! da!

There are three main sources of knowledge in epistemology - the ecclesiastical (religious-based and derived), the rational-legal (state-derived) and science (observation, testing and verifiability-derived from the empirical world). Religion was used by primitive man to explain and justify events and matter and form moral codes. Today, states make same moral codes/laws without recourse to claims that a god ordained them. And the scientific methodology has been used to explain events and matter much, much better than any religion before. That's why some Europeans no longer worship Thor, the god of Thunder, after whom Thursday was named. In primitive Africa, people still do and some will swear they know people who can cause lightning to strike you!

Graham, while it is true that most religious folks do not necessarily know how to argue as they often resort to quoting scripture and commit logical errors, your conclusion that science and belief are incompatible is bogus because science relies on belief before it can truly work. Here's what I mean: in order for science to be viable, it first has to presume (believe) that there is a mind behind the cosmos. In order words, science has to presume (believe) that the universe is in fact rational, that the laws of nature are reliable and that there is uniformity and symmetry in all of nature. You see without this fundamental assumptions or beliefs, which form the bedrock of science, science would be impossible. If we were to presume (believe) that the universe is irrational, purposely and chance-dependent as your naturalistic worldview presupposes, why should we trust any experiments we carry out in the lab? Why should we trust the instruments we use? Why should we even trust our own thoughts or our mind? As you can see science is only viable if theism is true because theism presents a better framework or bedrock for science to operate. You may be entitled to your own opinion, Graham, but you're not entitled to your won facts. Stop the lies!

Science is about seeking knowledge. Why should we trust any experiments we carry out in the lab? There is no need for trust in experiment, it must achieve results and must be deemed to be worthy of replication under similar circumstances for the results to be accepted.

Why should we trust the instruments we use? The instruments should be capable of achieving the intended result, and there is no need for trust, verification is what is necessary.

Why should we even trust our own thoughts or our mind? Again, there is no need to trust thoughts, the thoughts must be either posing fundamental questions or addressing a fundamental question and even that, the thoughts must be demonstrated, go through falsification and withstand the scrutiny before it will become accepted by the scientific community.

You have to trust your thoughts in order to use your thoughts just as you have to trust the tools or instruments you use before you use them. For example, if you're sitting on a chair, you have to trust that the chair will in fact support your frame before you even sit on it. Why would you sit on the chair if you don't trust it would support you? Again, like I said, that's the same with science. You have to trust or believe that reason is reliable in order to use reason to do science. You also have to believe or trust that the instruments we designed accurately interpret what they see etc. Please stop the lies!

One interested book on the subject I have in my collection is Maurice Bucaille's translation of his book from French (poor job at that, btw), The Bible and the Qur'an and Science. The Holy Scriptures examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge.

While admitting that his examination revealed cases of scientific errors in the Bible, he concluded that he didn't find any of such errors in the Qur'an. Well, being a believer ostensibly searching for the truth, he reportedly converted to Islam, one of the Western scientists Hussein would like to point at.

However, a critical reading of his book reveals that he had succeeded in drawing attention to and exposing the contradictions in the Qur'an more than resolving them to be compatible with modern knowledge! E.g., to claim that it is written in the Qur'an that a day is like 10000 years in Allah's life (in the Bible, a day was equated to 1000 yrs in God's life) meant that the universe was created 60000 years ago and humans 10000 yrs ago conform with the scientific claim of the emergence of homo sapiens is simply another exercise in religious obscurantism. But no scientists ever claim that homo sapiens emerged just 10,000 yrs ago! And certainly, that the earth was created 60000-70000 yrs ago!

And it wasn't in the Qur'an that the earth was first acclaimed to be spherical. That was simply part of Greek philosophy and learning which got preserved in the part of the Graeco-Roman world which was not overrun by the Barbarians, Visigoths, etc., which world became the Islamic World.

Seventeen hundred years after Eratosthenes' death, while Christopher Columbus studied what Eratosthenes had written about the size of the Earth, he chose to believe that the Earth's circumference was much smaller. Had Columbus set sail knowing that Eratosthenes' larger circumference value was more accurate, he would have known that the place where he made landfall was not Asia, but rather a New World.[8]

Yet, there are so-called Muslim "scholars" on Youtude claiming accolades for Mohammed and their Allah for things already known to man centuries before Mohammed was born.

If you are a scientist or a fake one, please do this simple experiment and decide if God exists or not. You can do voluntary movements of your body. But just sit down for a couple of minutes and place your hand on your chest. Stop breathing for a few seconds. You will feel the beat of your heart. Tell your heart to stop beating. It will not listen to your conscious request. The only power that can stop the heart beat is the ONE who originally put it in your body- and that is GOD the creator of life.
