Man's first contact with corruption originated in the Eden sanctuary, a perfect place for a perfect people who knew no sin, shame, or death.
But corruption of God's word by the fallen foe, Satan, was not far off. He decided to use a wrong use of knowledge to deceive the holy couple. Seeing he had lost heaven and its peace, through disobedience to God's law, he will make them fall like himself. He saw that the gift of Adam's discernment (by which he could name all the animals at creation by their characteristics) could be so
corrupted through faulty reasoning that he or his wife will be so confused that temptation will break them to yield to sin.
At creation Adam's wisdom was God's word given to them: God as the creator of the universe; their responsibilities, and God's law; the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Of great significance was the tree of knowledge of good and evil which was symbolic of God's word and the warning of an evil present in disobedience. This tree of knowledge (da'ath {Heb} = wisdom) of good and evil and its warning was supposed to be the wisdom of Adam and Eve. The failure of Adam and Eve to be role models for their posterity revealed God's new plan of grace, a covenant for the people, Christ-- "I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles" Isaiah 42:6, cf. 49:8.
In Christ will be revealed God's role model of wisdom, righteousness sanctification and redemption, God's antidote for corruption.
"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." 1 Corinthians 1:30.
The exemplary life of Christ is our badge of distinction. Let us therefore so familiarize ourselves with God's word that we can be identified with the Word of God.
May we never forget Satan's temptation of Adam and Eve in Eden which only revealed sin, confusion, every kind of corruption and death!
"We see, then, that as one act of sin exposed the whole race of men to God's judgment and condemnation, so one act of perfect righteousness presents all men freely acquitted in the sight of God. One man's disobedience placed all men under the threat of condemnation, but one man's obedience has the power to present all men righteous before God.
Grace is a bigger thing than the Law
Now we find that the Law keeps slipping into the picture to point the vast extent of sin. Yet, though sin is shown to be wide and deep, thank God his grace is wider and deeper still! The whole outlook changes - sin used to be the master of men and in the end handed them over to death: now grace is the ruling factor, with righteousness as its purpose and its end the bringing of men to the eternal life of God through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:18-21, Phillips.
