  Some Protestant movements such as Focus on the Family tend to agree with Catholics when they state: "Modern contraceptive inventions have given many an exaggerated sense of safety and prompted more people than ever before to move sexual expression outside the marriage boundary". This not something which is not good for society when single mothers have to be given financial assistance or, worse yet, when babies are killed in abortions.
  
  
  Muslims tend to encourage procreation. Muhammad is reported to have said "marry and procreate".
  
  
  Mahatma Gandhi, a Hindu, is reported to have said that contraception is "a most dangerous doctrine to preach" and "a sin against God and humanity"

  There are some very selfish reasons for staying away from artificial contraceptives, especially because they put a woman or a wife at increased risk of breast cancer (declared a carcinogen by WHO). Studies have also shown that, contrary to popular marketing, at least in Europe and the US, increased use of contraceptives actually increases unwanted pregnancies and abortions.
  
  
  From a Christian standpoint, a marriage is supposed to reflect not only the union between a man and a woman, but be a model of the union between Christ and His Church. Christ gave it all and did not withhold anything; He tore open the veil between God and man and left no barrier.

  They are not medical professionals and have zero medical qualifications. If I need legal advice I talk to an attorney, not a carpenter. Likewise, why do the bishops think anyone should take them seriously? In fact practicing medicine without the appropriate qualifications is a criminal act.
  
  Please check your conduct. if you want only natural acts then we need to remind the bishops that depriving yourself of sexual activity because of a book of anansesem written by ancient nomads in the middle eastern desert is not natural and should therefore be banned with immediate effect.
  
  But actually we now know for a fact that catholic priests do not practice abstinence, they have been well documented to practice masturbation, and sexual activities with underage boys and girls, and also with other peoples spouses.
  
  All the claims they made in this write up have been long refuted. So they know they are intentionally telling lies, and misleading the public, for which they will burn in hell.

As a Canadian and former Irish citizen I wish our bishops had your fortitude. Contraceptive use increases abortion rates. Condom use increases the spread of disease. These are demonstrable, statistical facts. Following God's laws will never lead you astray. You will remain in my prayers.
