We have places of worship in Ghana that can attract Christian Pilgrims from across the globe. The Apostles Continuation Church facility in Dua Yaw Nkwanta Zongo attracts 1000s of followers from Europe and North America every February. What about the Awhia Mountain Prayer Center? It also attracts thousands of Cristians throughout the year. All the government needs to do is to provide access road, places of convenience, hostels,etc, and this will attract pilgrims from across the globe which will help boost foreign income generation. Why are university graduates so stupid?

I have all along been arguing against the Muslim one as a waste of resources and they are going to waste more resources.

I am not too sure you understand the government plan.the message IS gov't will FACILITATE and not sponsor, get your facts well. The govt facilitates Higg for the muslems but doesnot pay their fares. I dont think we christian ...

in Ghana facilitate is almost like sponsroship. Government should stop supporting or 'facilitating' hajj- private people can organise that - he givernment has to just make laws that work. period!

What is a misplaced priority? Perhaps these preachers are awash in wealth so can do the pilgrimage without a wink...and do visit the holy sites like their backyards. Pilgrimage is an "exclusive club" in their view. But what about the thousands that yearn to see Jerusalem, etc but do not have the means? Is this not a lifeline thrown by a caring government??? Christ berated the pharisees in a poetic context, (viz Luke 11.42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone). At least the government is not levying the church to do this so what is the beef? If Christ is not a priority, then I don't know what.

This useless and archaic policy of past and successive governments sponsoring Moslem Pilgrimage which was introduced by Kwame Nkrumah for political reasons should come to an end indefinitely.

The country is lack of resources to foot these useless venture which do not bring any returns into the country but rather making a prosperous country like Saudi Arabia raking in billions of dollars from poor nations who patronize in this Hajj nonsense. Spiritual attainment for persons is not the responsibility of the Government to throw tax payers money to support it. Been a Moslem or Christian who wants to attain spiritual sanctity, it should be your own responsibility to achieve it not at the expense of the nation. You have the right to apply for foreign travel allowance through the bank if funds are available if not you heed to the black market to acquire it because your spiritual attainment is your personal gain and not the nation. END TO THIS PILGRIMAGE NONSENSE. E&OE.

Government only devise ways and means of making things easier for it citizen who perform Hajj. It is therefore UNREASONABLE to link hajj too to mismanagement of scarce resources of Ghana. Let's always be TRUTHFUL.
