Accra, May 16, GNA - This year's Top Four Competition has seen a major boost as the organisers, the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has secured a sponsorship of 1.4 billion cedis for the six-week soccer fiesta amongst the nation's best.

According to information that reached the Ghana News Agency, Onetouch Ghana Limited has taking up the title right with a One billion cedi deal.

Mr Joseph Yaw Appiah, Chairman of GHALCA told the GNA Sports that the remaining package of 400 million cedis will be provided by Coca Cola Ghana Limited and First Atlantic Bank.

The GHALCA Chairman said Coca Cola is offering 300 million cedis while First Atlantic Bank joins the train with 100 million cedis offer. The tournament is scheduled to kick start on May 27 and end in June 27 at the Cape Coast and Sunyani Coronation Park.

Mr Appiah, however, noted that the Association would on Friday announce appearance fee and other packages for the participants. He added that all the four qualified clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak, Obuasi Ashgold, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kpando Heart of Lions have agreed to participate in the six-week tournament.

The latest revelation seems to have dispelled the heavy clouds, which engulfed the event when the four clubs accepted participation in the competition albeit some with reservations.

Mr Appiah said the four clubs Hearts, Ashgold, Kotoko and Lions committed themselves to the competition at a meeting on Wednesday, May 16.

The GHLACA boss described the meeting as successful despite earlier disagreements.
