Amidaus Professionals assistant coach Mercy Tagoe says it is unnecessary to allow wives and girlfriends (WAGS) of Black Star players at the 2014 World Cup finals.

The ex-international, who is the only female coach in the Ghanaian top-flight, sees it as a disruptive element for the players.

“I am a woman, but what is bad. The truth hurts, but still we have to voice it out. It would be unnecessary for the wives and girlfriends to follow the players to the world cup. It would even disturb the players,” Tagoe said on Kumasi-based Price FM.

“What we need for the players is simply a psychologist, not women. Some players would not like their wives to go to Brazil.”

There has been no official communication from Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah or the Football Association.
