The Marketing Manager of Nestle Ghana Ltd., Colin Taylor says his company will be investing 235 million cedis into this year's National Colts Championship, which will take place at Sekondi-Takoradi from 12th to 18th January 2003.

At a press conference in Accra yesterday, Mr. Taylor said, Milo was the sole sponsor and promoter of this event for 8 years until the year 2000 when they decided to pull out because of their dissatisfaction with the quality of organisation of the event.

He said, Milo's return is due to the "faith we have in the chairman of the National Juvenile Association, Abedi Pele". He said the 235 million cedis covers the entire sponsorship, from general organisational expenses to prizes and publicity.

The overall champion in the under-14 division will take home 1 million cedis cash, as well as a trophy, a set of jerseys, footballs, 23 gold medals, Milo products and Milo promotional items.

In the U-17 division, the overall national champion will receive 1.5 million cedis cash, a trophy, 23 gold medals, a set of Milo jerseys, Milo footballs, Milo products and Milo promotional items.

A shield and cash reward will also go to individual players and teams that excel in both categories.

The best player, best defender, best goalkeeper, top goal scorer and fair play team will all receive special awards.

Mr. Ben Kouffie, chairman of GFA said all over the world, football is receiving sponsorship, but in Ghana football sponsorship has been a problem.
