56 invited for Black Stars/Meteors

Accra, Sept 6, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has invited 56 players for both the senior national team, the Black Stars and the Olympics team, the Black Meteors to begin camping at Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.

A statement signed by Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA did not give reasons for the camping but a source said it is to prepare the teams for both the All African Games in Abuja, Nigeria and a World Cup qualifier against Somalia, all in October this year. The players are made up 31 for the Black Meteors and 35 for the Black Stars.

Those invited for the Black Stars are Louis Quinoo, Issah Ahmed, Aziz Ansah, Joe Hendricks, Michael Asante, Godfred Yeboah, Charles Taylor and Michael Osei, all of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Eben Dida Armah, Daniel Coleman, Emmanuel Osei, Lawrence Adjei, Bernard Don Bortey and Daniel Quaye --Hearts while Abukari Kankani, Kenneth Ababio and James Boateng of Obuasi Goldfields.

Other are Ladzekpo Richard of Hasaacas, Hamza Mohamed and Chibsa Alhassan from King Faisal, Sammy Kofi and Seth Antwi -- Berekum Arsenals-- Tiero William and Asamoah Djan from Liberty Professionals while Paa Joe Kumah is the only call up from Great Olympics.

The Black Meteors players are made up of Eric Gawu, Kwadjo Poku, Yahuza Abubakri, Yahuza Iddrisu, Kofi Osei and Habib Mohamed of King Faisal while George Owu and Edmund Owusu Ansah are from Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Techie Mensah, Jeff Aryeh and Ayamba Kwabena -- Nania FC while Isaac Amoako, Shaibu Yakubu and Asare Boateng are from Obuasi Goldfields. Alex Agyepong, David Addo of Stay Cool Professionals while Louis Agyeman and Eric Nyarko are the only call-ups from Hearts of Oak. The rest are Sulley Mohammed (Power FC), Elvis Opoku (Okwawu United), Adamu Mohamed (Heart of Lions), Yakubu Saliu (Arsenal), and Eric Owusu of Vipers.
