Magnus Rex Danquah, Secretary of Ghana’s Afcon 2017 bid, has dispelled fears that, Ghana may lose out of the bid due to the decision of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) decision to hand over 2019, 2021 and 2023 to three west African countries.

Rex Danquah, said in an interview that, CAF does not consider the geographical location of countries before granting them the right to host the competition.

According to Rex Danquah, hosting right is given to countries who are ready to host the event in terms of facilities and had nothing to do about geographical consideration.

He said, Ghana has an advantage over countries due to the presence four existing stadiums, hotel accommodations, road network among others.

Rex Danquah, said, Ghana is also having the full backing of the presidency in its bid to organise the competition again.

He expressed the confidence that, Ghana will be granted the right go host the event ahead of other countries like Algeria, Egypt and Zimbabwe.

Ghana submitted a bid to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, when Libya backed down on its decision to host the competition, due to political unrest.

The bid team, returned from Egypt last Wednesday, after successfully submitting the bid.
