One of Ghana's legendary stars ever, Abedi Ayew Pele has emerged on top of the list of Sports Minister, Mallam Ali Yusif Issa's choice for the FA chairmanship seat.
Among other contenders for the job are Akwasi Acheampong, representative for Obuasi Goldfields SC and Michael Kojo Mensah Bonsu of Ashtead Ghana, local representatives of Adidas Kit manufacturers, who has never hidden his desire for the job when given the green light
Former FA boss, Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula who was also tipped for a second term, chance's of getting the nod has fizzled out due to the on-going investigations into his FA's management teams account after it received $450,000 from CAF for the co-hosting of CAN 2000.
Abedi Pele, who stands tall among the other contenders, is being considered among other things for the post due to his relationship with FIFA/CAF and other foreign associations and also commands the support of most CAF/FIFA members. He is likely to face a little bit of difficulties from the Ghana League Club Association's members who would be in favour of Akwasi Acheampong who is a member and is also being pushed by some government officials.
Also dark horse, Kojo Bonsu would be nominated for a post within the FA that's being a government nominee by the Sports Minister, Mallam Ali Yusif Issa considering his background of soccer administration and development of the game in various quarters including his association with other organisations in relation to football
