Norway-based youngster Mohammed Abu says his key ambition is to help Ghana qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup Nations after being named in the squad to face Sudan.
The 18-year-old, who is on loan at Stromgodset, caught the eye of the Black Stars coach following impressive outings for the club in the Norwegian top-flight.
The hugely talented enforcer, who is on loan from English big spenders Manchester City, is making his second appearance in the team.
He was invited for the aborted Ghana-Nigeria friendly some few weeks ago but could not play because the game was called off because of the London riots.
Despite getting the chance to impress in the Black Stars again, Abu says he key target is to help Ghana get the necessary results in Sudan to qualify.
“I hope I can do to well to help the country qualify. This game is very important for the country and so my biggest target is to help my nation,” Abu said.
Mohammed is aware that he faces a tough competition in the hunt for a starting place becasue of the presence of other good players in the squad.
“With the good players Ghana has who are doing well in Europe, I hope I get some playing to show the world the sort of quality I am made of," Abu said.
"I know it’s a crucial game and I have been playing regularly for my club which means I will be ready for the match.”
Abu is one of the key Ghanaian players in Europe this season having already played 25 matches for Stromgodset in the league and Europa League.
Manchester City, who have some of the world's best players, spotted Abu while playing for the 'Right to Dream Academy' who are unearthing some of the country best talents.
He is on loan at Stromgodset until January 2012
