A fatal motor accident that occurred on the Tarkwa-Takoradi High in the Western Region has led to the death of a thirty-year-old small scale miner.
Chief Inspector George Kwabena Osei, of the Tarkwa Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency in Tarkwa.
He said on May 18, at about 1330 hours, Emmanuel Ansah, the suspected driver was driving a Nissan Urvan bus with registration number WR718-17 heading towards Takoradi from Tarkwa.
Mr Osei explained that when Ansah got to Dadwen a village along the Tarkwa-Takoradi highway, the deceased, Kwaku Daniel, who was riding an unregistered Susuki motorbike from Nsuaem towards Tarkwa, crashed into the Urvan bus while negotiating a sharp curve.
The MTTD duty bearer said the deceased died on the spot and the body was conveyed to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital morgue for preservation.
He added that the suspected driver was in the custody of the police at Tarkwa to assist in investigations.
